Sunday, February 10, 2019 • 5 Adar I 5779
7:00 PM - 9:30 PMTemple Shir Tikvah Oneg RoomJoin us in the oneg room for a cozy Connections Film Night at the Temple. First, we’ll watch a short, 33-minute film entitled “Mah-jongg: Tiles that Bind.” Following will be our feature film “Supergirl,” which follows Naomi Kutin’s unique coming-of-age story as she fights to hold onto her powerlifting title while navigating the perils of adolescence—from strict religious obligations as an Orthodox Jew to cyber-bullying, and health issues which could jeopardize her future in powerlifting. (You can read the New York Times's feature article on the film here.) "Supergirl" has been the Official Selection at many film festivals and was directed, produced and edited by Jessie Auritt, the niece of temple member Sherry Reisner. This event is free and we will provide drinks, popcorn and light snacks.
