Three Pathways into Exodus with Rabbi Sara Meirowitz on January 21, March 11, April 29. Egypt. Plagues. Red Sea. Sinai! The stories of the book of Exodus are among the most striking and well-known in our tradition. As in last year’s successful exploration of Genesis, this class will provide new perspectives on the book of Exodus, challenging our assumptions and inviting contemporary readings. Topics may include Moses’ ethnic identity as Hebrew and Egyptian; artistic and cinematic representations of the Ten Commandments; and the intimacy and violation of the Golden Calf. Both experienced and new readers of Torah stories are welcome. Rabbi Sara Meirowitz is assistant chair of Jewish Studies at Gann Academy. Teaching adult learning classes at Shir Tikvah is a highlight of her year!
