Finding a Temple That’s Right for You

We’re here to help you get started.

No pressure. No rush.

In fact, we want you to take some time with this decision because—like families—Jewish communities have different styles and ways of being together. So it's important to find a congregation that feels like a good match and that takes some time.

We encourage you to follow these three steps as you consider Shir Tikvah:

1. Think about what you want from a Jewish community.

  • What level of observance feels most comfortable?
  • If you are an interfaith family, is full inclusion in all aspects of temple life a requirement?
  • Are you looking for Jewish learning, social action, spiritual growth, social connections, or all of these?
  • What kind of temple involvement can you see yourself having?
  • Is a personal connection with the rabbi and cantor important to you?

2. Get some basic facts about Temple Shir Tikvah.

  • Take a spin through the rest of this website. Find out what's going on at the Temple this week.
  • Give the office a call (781-729-1263), and we'll put you in touch with Rabbi Cari; Beth Levin, our cantor; or Bailee Star, director of the religious school.
  • Or, email Rabbi Cari Bricklin-Small, Cantor Beth Levin, or Education Director Bailee Star directly. They'll get back you right away.

3. Most important: "Date" us for a while to see if there's a connection.

  • That means stepping up from an on-line encounter to a real one. We want you to visit! Scan our News and Annoucements on our homepage or check our calendar for events that might interest you. Come to a Friday night service where you'll experience the heart and soul of who we are. Drop in on a Sunday morning adult learning class, bring your kids to a holiday celebration, or try out a Tot Shabbat. If you get in touch in advance, we'll pair you with a member to show you around. See if you can imagine Shir Tikvah becoming your Jewish home. If you can, then you probably have found your match, and we look forward to getting to know you.
