All over Poland there are non-Jews committed to remembering the Jewish people who used to be their neighbors. No one asked them to do this, they simply felt called to this work. They know that ninety percent of Poland's Jews were murdered in the Holocaust, and Poland is a source of pain and loss for many Jewish people. And so they work to preserve the history and memory of those who were murdered, and those who survived. Their dedication has inspired Leora Tec. In 2018 she began work on an online video library—The Neshoma Project—featuring conversations with these amazing people whom she calls Rescuers of Memory.
Join us on September 14, 2025 at 2pm when Leora will share stories (including video clips) of these people who, in many different ways—through scholarship, the arts, teaching, guiding and grassroots initiatives—are dedicating themselves to Jewish remembrance.
Leora Tec is founder and director of Bridge To Poland, which educates people about Jewish history in Poland, emphasizing how the Jews of Poland are being remembered by non-Jewish Poles today. Leora is Special Projects Partner of Brama Grodzka-Teatr NN in Lublin, Poland and was a Mary Elvira Stevens Traveling Fellow from Wellesley College (2018-2019). In cooperation with Brama Grodzka, Leora has created the online video archive, The Neshoma Project: Conversations with Poles Rescuing Jewish Memory.
Leora sits on the board of the American Association for Polish-Jewish Studies and was a member-at-large of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston for two years. She is the author of several articles on this subject.
