Starting your Hebrew journey through speaking, writing, reading & listening. This class will begin with phrases and everyday vocabulary and build skills slowly to reach fluency in understanding Modern Spoken Hebrew, with focus on speaking skills. Hebrew from scratch Vol 1 and CD Vol 1. No preliminary knowledge of Hebrew required.

Hebrew for All

In many of the ways we connect with Judaism—prayer, meditation, social action, historical research, text study—we come to realize that our Hebrew language skills limit our ability to derive more understanding of what we study. You can benefit from learning Hebrew, be it in your oral reading or enhancing your conversational skills.

Temple Shir Tikvah now gives you a fresh opportunity to improve your Hebrew. We are now a sponsoring synagogue of the Ivrit la Kol (ILK)program. The program offers classes at a variety of levels from beginning to advanced. ILK has served the community for more than 20 years. It was developed jointly by Temple Emunah and Temple Isaiah in Lexington. You can learn how to read Hebrew, improve your ability to read prayers and study Biblical and Modern Conversational Hebrew.

A brochure with upcoming classes is linked above. Many classes begin after the High Holy Days. At present they will be available online, with the plan of returning to classrooms at Temple Emunah and Temple Isaiah. Most learners spend approximately three hours a week studying and doing exercises to develop their skills.

You can register with Ivrit la Kol directly. As a member of Shir Tikvah you are entitled to receive a discount of $25 per class per session. If you are interested in knowing more about the program please contact
