Join the Morning Book Group to discuss Girls and Their Monsters: The Genain Quadruplets and the Making of Madness in America by Audrey Clare Farley. Superficially, this book is about 4 sisters who were diagnosed with schizophrenia, and the psychologists who examined them. But really, the book is a tour of America in the first half of the 20th century, showing it to be a pretty nasty place. Sexism, racism, celebrity worship, and psychological theories all come in for unusual scrutiny.
