Adult Learning: Three Pathways into Leviticus and Numbers Sunday, March 10, 2019 | 9:45 am | The Ambrose School, 27 High Street, Winchester
We will explore some of the key narratives and themes in the biblical books of Leviticus and Numbers. Topics to be discussed may include the Tabernacle's dangerous holiness, the complex family dynamics among Moses and his siblings, and the tragedy of the Spies. Two key questions to discuss: how do we understand the interplay of legal and narrative texts, and how do we make modern-day meaning from the body of law? The whole community is invited to join us for professional storyteller Cindy Rivka Marshall's rendition of the Purim story--captivating for all ages!--a spirited teen schpiel, and a costume parade. Benefit concert for the Beyond Bond and Legal Defense Fund in Newton, on March 17th, which helps our immigrant neighbors in ICE detention obtain and pay bond so they can reunite with their families. Composer/Performer Noah Aronson and his band will perform at Temple Emanuel Newton (Ward St) at 4pm. The concert is presented by the Immigration Justice Group at Temple Beth Elohim-Wellesley, with support from area congregations working for immigrant justice.
