In this small book, Heschel argues that Judaism is a religion of time, not space and things. He presents the Sabbath as a "great cathedral" in time. This book, published in 1951, is considered a classic of Jewish spirituality. Abraham Joshua Heschel was one of the leading Jewish theologians and philosophers of the 20th century and a leader in the Civil Rights Movement.

We will be exploring this important work and its author with Hebrew College professor, Rabbi Eric Gurvis. Shir Tikvah's Adult Education Program is offering this three session Zoom course in collaboration with Open Circle Jewish Learning. It will be a small class and we've arranged for early registration at a greatly reduced cost of $18 before it is opened to the public in December for $108. Details are below.

  • With: Rabbi Eric Gurvis, faculty member of Hebrew College
  • Dates: 1/10/23, 1/17/23, 1/24/23 – 7:00-8:30pm on Zoom
  • Cost: $18 (TST member discount only! All others should register at full price through Hebrew College, www.hebrewcollege.edu.)
