Online Tisha b’Av Service with Lev DePaolo
Saturday, August 2, 2025 • 8 Av 5785
8:00 PM - 9:00 PMonlineIn times of great sorrow and upheaval, the liturgy of Tisha B'Av offers an invitation to grieve together in community. Join us as we gather in song and prayer and draw wisdom from the ancient book of Lamentations. Watch the service on our Facebook page, YouTube channel, website home page, or join the Zoom meeting (link is sent to Temple members and friends).
In preparation for our Tisha B'Av observance, we invite you to help us create this year's liturgy. When the first Temple was destroyed in 586 BCE, our ancestors processed their grief and trauma through a series of heartbreaking elegies that became the book of Lamentations. When we chant our ancestors' words on Tisha B'Av, we allow ourselves to layer our own experiences on top of their voices. Join us in the transformative practice of holding space for our grief, both ancient and contemporary. If you feel so moved, please respond to the following prompts with your own words. Please email levdepaolo@gmail.com. by Friday 8/1 at noon:
How can it be that...
I weep for...
I cry out for...
I mourn...
My heart is sick for...
Let us search for...
Let us lift up our hearts and...
Hear our plea...
I have hope that...
Return us to...
