Shir Tikvah member Shepard Doeleman is the director of the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration. His team worked for over a decade to capture the first ever photograph of a black hole, which was released last week. Congratulations, Shepard!
Tour of Royall House and Slave Quarters Saturday, May 4 | 12:45 pm | 15 George St., Medford
In the eighteenth century, the Royall House and Slave Quarters was home to the largest slave-holding family in Massachusetts and the enslaved Africans who made their lavish way of life possible. Today, the Royall House and Slave Quarters is a museum that bears witness to intertwined stories of wealth and bondage, set against the backdrop of America’s quest for independence.

Connections Campfire and Singalong Sunday, April 28 | 12:45 pm | 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Light up the night on our last event of the year at our campfire complete with songs led by Beth and yummy s’mores. If it rains we will move our festivities inside. Please bring a chair for outdoor seating.

Celebrate the past year at Shir Tikvah, learn about the Temple's finances and budget, and say "thank you" to our outgoing leaders, and "welcome" to our new leaders. The Annual Meeting is followed by the end of the school year celebration including thank yous to our teachers, music provided by a DJ, and refreshments. The Annual Meeting will be held In the Ambrose School Music Room and the End of the Year School Celebration will be held in the Cafeteria and playground.
Camping Registration Now Open Annual Camping Trip Friday July 26 through Sunday July 28
We'll have fun, make new friends, and celebrate Shabbat and Havdalah in the woods at New Hampshire's White Lake State Park. This event continues to be a ton of fun and this year will continue the tradition. Planned events include: Shabbat and Havdalah services by the campfire; Delicious Dinner with your neighbors on Saturday; Happy Hikes for all ages; Sunny Swimming in White Lake; and Fantastic French Toast Sunday morning.

White Nationalism, Community Response, and the Rule of Law, Tuesday, April 30, 7:00 pm, Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Ave., Somerville. White Nationalist and other hate groups have proliferated in recent decades. Antisemitism is a central tenet of their ideology, with increasing anti-immigrant fervor and Islamophobia. These hate groups and their appeals to violence openly flout the rule of law. We seek to build alliances among our communities to support each other and to work together to counter this resurgence. Building Community: Finding Yourself in the Immigrant Story, Sunday, April 28 3:00PM-5:00PM, Winchester Public Library Large Meeting Room. Please join us for an afternoon of storytelling and dialogue around the theme of immigration. In conjunction with the YWCA’s nation-wide Take a Stand Against Racism campaign, learn from the powerful stories of local women who are immigrants, including Salma Abounadi, Chrep Ket, Phuni Meston, and Juanita Zerda. Hear about ongoing legal developments shaping the immigration landscape in Massachusetts from Matt Segal, the Legal Director of the ALCU of Massachusetts. Increase your understanding of the challenges immigrants face, and learn what we all can do, in Winchester and beyond, to create a welcoming, supportive community. This program is free and accessible for all.
Communities Without Borders Concert: Sunday, April 28, 4:00 pm.Enjoy an afternoon of wonderful music while supporting the education of vulnerable children in Zambia. Communities Without Borders (CWB) is the group that Robin Kutner, Betty Stone, and Bonnie Newman traveled to Zambia with. CJP Scholarship Fund: Combined Jewish Philanthropies awards grants and interest free loans to students who reside in the Greater Boston CJP service area. Awards generally range between $1,000 and $10,000. Applicants are considered on the basis of economic need. Learn more.
