GBIO (Greater Boston Interfaith Organization) has identified healthcare reform as its major focus for the legislative session ending in July 2020 with the focus being reduction of drug costs, reduction of overall out of pocket expenditures and mental health parity. Please join us on Thursday August 15 at 7 pm at the Temple to share our healthcare stories and learn about GBIOs plans and some of the bills that have been proposed in the legislature. We will also be giving out information about a GBIO healthcare "teach-in" happening on Sept 5.

Habitat for Humanity Build Saturday, August 17 | 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Salisbury, MA
Build with Habitat for Humanity once a month, from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. No particular skills are required to participate but you must be 16 or older to be on the work site. We usually eat out for lunch but lots of folks bring lunch and eat on site. If you are interested and want more information contact Annie LaCourt . Location may change each month; contact Annie to confirm address.
Torah Study Saturday, August 17 | 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
This lay-led group discusses Torah over bagels and coffee in the library, each Saturday morning at 10:30 am. Join us!

On September 20th, we will be holding a celebration of the Temple Shir Tikvah scientific community. If you are a scientist and part of the TST community, we would like to honor you. Please fill out our form with your information, and you will be included.

We are accepting donations of raisins and whole grain crackers for JF&CS Family Table. Help us meet our monthly commitment of 35 boxes of crackers and 45 boxes of raisins! You can leave them in the box by the front door of the Temple. Read guidelines here.
We're also recruiting new volunteers for our ongoing projects. Interested in tutoring a child in an underserved elementary school in Somerville, cooking monthly meals for homeless adults, taking part in a Habitat for Humanity work crew, or learning to head up our Winchester Hospital X-mas Day volunteer effort? Israel/Palestine Conversations at Temple Shir Tikvah
We are interested in gauging interest in conversations about Israel/Palestine. If you would like to be part of exploring the complexities of this topic (which could include discussions about Israel/Palestine on college campuses, or how to help your child navigate this challenging subject in public school, or even how to articulate your own feelings), please contact us here. Beyond Shir Tikvah
Tzelem For the third year, in 2019-2020 Moving Traditions is offering online groups for trans, nonbinary, gender fluid, and gender questioning Jewish teens. Called Tzelem, it is an opportunity for transgender, genderqueer, and nonbinary Jewish teens to connect with one another and to explore key issues in their lives through a Jewish lens --- including friendship, self-compassion, mental health, intimacy, gender expression, and belonging. Offered in partnership with Keshet, Tzelem online groups will begin in September, meeting monthly through May, and participation fees are $80 per teen (for 8 two-hour sessions). Scholarships are available --- no one will be turned away. We are also excited to announce two new in-person Tzelem groups launching in Boston and New York and the return of Tzelem for LGBTQ+ teens in Los Angeles, run in partnership with JQ International.
Arlington Town Day 2019 Arlington Town Day is rapidly approaching. Every year, we have a table with information for those who are interested in learning more about our community. If you are available on September 14th, pleasesign up for our Temple Shir Tikvah table. It is easy and fun to greet members of the community who stop by.
