Our extraordinary TST staff, the Temple Board, and I are sending you strength and comfort as this week begins. These are difficult and unsettling times for all of us. In addition to managing copious amounts of fear and uncertainty, we know that many are facing either the challenges of living alone and being isolated or the challenges of living with children who are now home all day. On top of that, we have all had to adjust to being together through screens. It has been profoundly moving to see so many of you at Shabbat services, havdalah, Learning Corps, and taking part in various Virtually Shir Tikvah offerings. One thing we know for sure is that human beings need human contact. By showing up as we have for each other, we remain powerfully connected even while physically apart. It is an act of love and hope and we are delighted to continue to provide programming that will connect us all in virtual space.
We are in this together!
In the next week or so, each of you will receive a phone call from a member of our new Caring Network. You will be asked if you would like a regular phone check-in and/or if you could use some help with food or medical delivery. None of us need be alone right now. We are ready and able to provide support. Also, please reach out to me if you could use a pastoral check in.
I am dreaming of the time we are back in-person again, our voices together in laughter and harmony, our bonds with one another even stronger. In the meantime, may we feel our connectedness with each other, deeply. I am holding you in my prayers and in my heart, as always—
